Fish Downsea Tuna Flares – High-Visibility, Uv-Activated Surface Attractor Lures

The Tuna Flares are a ‘bait skirt’ style lure meant for skirting dead baits such as ballyhoo on the troll. They’re an excellent choice for a skirt over your ballyhoo when you are trolling for tuna, mahi, and other pelagic species. 

Weighted just right with the 2 ounce lead heads, these baits have a skip and swim action that tuna and other species can’t resist.

These heads have put quite a few bigeye on deck for many guys over the past few seasons.

One of our favorite features of these heads is the small squid skirt underneath the hair. Whether you’re using copper wire, rubber bands, or bait springs to rig your baits, the rubber skirt will help keep the head from spinning on the front of the bait in the water.

Features:

• The eyes are key for predators to hone in on their prey and the eyes on the tuna flares our eyes stand out to help get that bite!
• You can easily pass up to 400# leader through the center hole of the 2 ounce Tuna Flares
• Great lure when paired with a medium to large ballyhoo for tuna and mahi but it will also catch other pelagics like marlin and wahoo
• 1x Tuna Flare per tube
• Both sizes measure out at 7.5 inches long

Rigging:

Best when rigged with 130-220# fluorocarbon leader with a, 8/0-10/0 hook, and a 1/4-3/4 ounce chin weight for the ballyhoo (preferably small to horse size ballyhoo depending on what you are targeting).

The larger hole in the head of the Tuna Flares allow you to easily switch out colors throughout the day on your rigs since they can pass over top of most loop connections and most wind on swivels.
